Fieldschool 2008 (July 14th to August 23rd)
"It's a very different experience learning about something while you're actually there as opposed to being in a classroom." (student participant, PP 2008)
Introduction
The 2008 season saw the launch of the official Priniatikos Pyrgos Fieldschool, and sixteen students were enrolled. Eight came from the University of California, Santa Barbara; two from University College Dublin; four from Trinity College Dublin; and two via the AIA Archaeological Fieldwork Opportunities Bulletin (AFOB). The fieldschool was co-directed by Dr. Morag Kersel (University of Toronto) and Dr. Jo Day (Trinity College Dublin). The Priniatikos Pyrgos project is very grateful to the Dept. of Classics, TCD, and the Trinity Trust, as well as UCSB for the financial aid which enabled their respective students to participate. The directors would like to thank all the visiting specialists and archaeologists who gave so generously of their time to ensure that the fieldschool was a success.
