Manual and documentation
All
archaeological sites are different, and while there is no ideal way
to excavate a site, we believe that there are some fundamentals to
running a project to high standards. The documentation we have
compiled relates to the specific archaeological and environmental of
our site, but we hope it will be of use to other projects. We use a
modified version of a single-context excavation system, building on
over 40 years of methodological development in the field. Out guide
is a perpetual work in progress, developing and being tweaked in
line with our experiences at Priniatikos Pyrgos.
As this is a free
and open resource to all colleagues, we are more than happy to
receive feedback or suggested contributions to develop this guide
further so that it can be used as a resource by other projects.

Below you will also find templates of all of our recording
documentation. These are freely provided and can be modified as
desired. Files have been minimised for web-use, please contact us
